About the event

It would be a privilege to have you join Haisasigit fa rua (brothers), Skillz and Jay-j (Samuela and John Taukave) for a moment of Hanuju ‘Storyliving’ as they share their journeys of reconnection to their Rotuman identity. Two brothers with ancestral ties to Pephaua, Malha’a and Motusa, Ituti’u on the island of Rotuma and raised in Vatuwaqa, Suva in Fiji sharing their ‘living’ stories through music, song, chant, poetry and dance. Activating a space of reconnection with their identities along with nurturing new relationships with people and nature around them. A powerful sharing of Art moderated by shared ōr (talanoa) about the brothers and their journeys from humble beginnings to where they are now. We hope you can join Skillz and Jay-j as they navigate their lifetime voyage of connection to their Rotuman-ness and learn more about what it means for them to be a Rotuman creative today.
